Depending on where I worked and how serious a proper appearance would be, I would try to handle this situation with humor and tell my coworkers that I was trying to set a new fashion trend at work. Maybe we could turn one casual Friday into a “mixed”-shoe day. (You could also tell coworkers that you let your young daughter dress you today). :) Of course, if I worked as a financial advisor or stock broker, this new look might not be met with as much enthusiasm. But in a regular office with minimal customer contact this little mishap should not be a big deal but rather an opportunity to evoke a little smile from oftentimes overworked coworkers.

Sit at my desk. A lot. Or, if I'm feeling brave, tell my coworkers about it, show 'em off, and have a good laugh.

It's a fashion statement, not a mistake. :)

I'd likely ignore it even if I did notice. I'm not known for being fashionable.. my socks rarely match if I bother to put any on.. my clothing almost never matches.. I don't do my hair.. I don't wear makeup and my style in general is eccentric and a weird mix of old and new. I'm also cheap.. I wear it till it falls apart and then stitch it back together until there is nothing left to stitch. That being said I don't think I'd get so much as a head turn from mis match shoes.. course I only own one pair..

I suppose if I did I'd make a joke of it. Ramble off some extravagant story about magical beings that steal one shoe from each pair and the cloak the remainder to make them look like a match.

Perhaps you can do a quick visit into the shoe store just next door?

Laugh along with people. lol XD Of course it's a bit embarrassing, but you'll just get more embarrassed if you'll hide from one corner all day long. Since you made a funny mistake, make them laugh some more! Laugh with them... think on the brighter side... at least you made your bored office mates happy! :)

This is sooo possible to happen to me. I imagine myself walking like a model on a catwalk at work to tease them more. XD

If it's a 100% no options, well I think I would laugh along with the mistake I made, even if I would want to bury my head into the ground ( my feet too, i guess). I'll convince myself that everyone made the same mistake even once in their life, continue my daily routine wishing time will run faster than it does. If my co-workers make a big fun about it just go along with the humor, because it is really embarassing and funny actually.

It will be a lesson for me, so I will make it sure I'll have a spare footwear in my office locker or cabinet if ever it happens again. By the way, I've seen a lot of fashion on footwear that mismatch, as photos below:

Ask them with a laugh, "What? You didn't get the memo? Today is mismatch Monday! Alright, I'll go ahead and send that out now!" LOL

Our desks hide our feet, and my job is primarily a desk job, so for most of the workday it really wouldn't be a problem. For the times when I have to be standing or walking, I'd just try not to draw attention to myself. People probably won't mention them. And if they do, I'd just tell the truth -- that I was in a rush leaving the house, maybe laugh a bit, and leave it at that.

I might go home during lunch break to change shoes, though, assuming that home is close enough to the office and my break is long enough.

Do you mean they do match your outfit or you are wearing two different color shoes? If the latter play it off you can either tell your coworkers that you are color blind or let them know before they tell you, that you had a busy morning and did not realize about the mismatch until you got to work.

It depends on what line of work you are in also, if you have to meet a client, maybe they will give you the time to go home and change. And for the future always have an extra pair of shoes and clothes in your car for emergencies. :)

I won't bother as I am sure my co-workers would understand it. It will brighten my co-workers' day, lol.
