Why is this a conundrum? Is is a conundrum to be thankful for anything *other* than family?

I'm thankful for the time I survived when I was driving down a two-lane highway and I decided to pass the guy in front of me, and I stepped on it, and then something fell onto the floor that I had to lean down to pick up, which meant taking my eyes off the road for just a few seconds, and then I looked back to see I had passed the guy, and so I turned the wheel to get back in the right lane, and when I turned around to face front I was whizzed by a semi going in the opposite direction who avoided taking off my side-mirror by an inch.

I narrowly, and purely by luck, avoided a head on collision with a semi with each of us going 60 mph in opposite directions, and I'm thankful to the fates that a collision didn't happen.

Besides family I am thankful to God for giving me this life. That I was able to breath the air around me and see the beauty of His creation. That I was given the chance to become the best that I can be. To explore my humanity. To love and be loved. To be able to feel compassion and sympathy for others. To be a sister, a friend, and a mother. I am thankful for the thought that I was not born here on earth an accident and that God planned my existence long before I was placed in the womb of my mother.

I am grateful for my health, whatever intellect and wisdom I may have, the roof over my head, the food I eat everyday and the constant desire I have to seek improvement and not feel compelled to conform.

I am grateful to have opportunity in life. I am grateful to have friends who love and accept me, flaws and all. I have a wonderful boyfriend who is incredibly supportive even when I do not necessarily deserve it. I am grateful to have gotten a number of chances to make meaningful life changes and see their impact.

Video Games ^_^

This may seem trite compared to other answers, yet they give me much to be thankful for.

The most obvious is stress relief they provided me for an outlet for anger, and an imaginary realm to escape to during some of the darkest times of my life.

The other reasons may seem more subtle . . .

I believe my love of games helped my creativity. I watched video games improve greatly improve greatly as I aged and it made me marvel at how quickly technology could change, this gave me an appreciation of science and technology. The games I play most are those with deep story-lines and the stories would suck me in just as easily as a good book, this inspired me to write and create my own stories.

I also believe that becoming involved in gaming helped me develop my problem solving skills. Strategy games and puzzle games challenged my mind and helped me look at problems with fresh eyes. Problems can be viewed as puzzles waiting to be solved and in this light many of life's challenges can be quite fun.

To have found someone who loves me as much as I love him and is loyal to me.

I'm not a perfect person. I have many flaws and imperfections but someone appreciates me as if I'm the greatest person out there.

I may have a quick temper but there's someone out there who understands me even though I don't deserve to be understood at times.

I may be unpredictable but still he finds reason in every wrong move I do as if I'm always right.

I may not be good-looking but he looks at me as if I'm the most beautiful girl out there. He doesn't even look on other woman. He's loyal. And I trust him so much.

In this world full of conflicts and misunderstanding, it's such a blessing to have one person who seemed to get your every mood and to cheer you up when you feel sad. I'm so lucky to have him. He's my best-est friend, my soul mate, my lifetime partner, and my one and only true love. :)
