Christmas Gifts for adult children

Knowing it is illegal to buy a person under 21 booze, would you as a parent press charges on an adult who brought your over 18 under 21 year old child booze for Christmas?

Is the person's intent to buy wine that will age well over the next few years. If the answer is yes I would simply elect myself as caretaker of the bottle.

If the answer to the above is no, I would remind said person of the law and that the gift is in poor taste. I would then return the gift.

I don't think I would press charges, unless the gift giver has a history of trying things like this.

I do not think that I would go as far as to press charges. We all know that our children, once they reach that age, are going to do things we would prefer them not to do. I would however speak to that person, and express my absolute disappointment in their choice of gifts. If it is my adult child's friend who made the purchase, I'm quite sure that my child would probably keep that gift to themselves. If it was opened in front of me, then I would confiscate the gift. They may be 18, but they are still my child and I feel that I still hold responsibility for their well being.
