Yes, I really love myself. So you might be wondering how can I be sure of that? I love and care other people and feel sympathy to those who are afflicted. I can feel the pain of others who are hurt physically or emotionally. For how can I love others if I don't love myself? How can I give something which I don't have?
I am very blessed to have parents who love, care, and nurtured me when I was a child. My parent gave me a very memorable and happy childhood.I am especially close to my father. He taught me how to ride a bike even if he has to hold the bike and stayed on my back as we move round and round the park for hours. He is very affectionate to me and my sister and even if we were all grown up (me and my sister) he never hesitate to show us his affection and treat us like his 6-year-old which sometimes embarrasses us but this affection was imprinted in my heart and in my whole being.
I feel that I belong. I feel wanted and important that he was very happy in the mere thought of seeing me. Even when I cared for him when I was sick he always seem embarrassed that I was the one who is now taking care of him. And he never stopped thanking me which I replied that I am doing this out of love for him and that it is my turn to take care of him as he took care of us.
Because I experienced the love of my parents, I have learned to be patient with myself, to accept my flaws, to be confident that I am unique and no matter what I look and what kind of person I turned out to be that their love for me is unconditional. And thanks to them, I have learned to accept and love myself. To realize that I am a gift to them from God and that I was born out of His will and not by accident. To know that I am a temple of God and that God is within me. And that whatever goodness I do to others is not through my own effort only that God is working in me because I let Him be. That I am God's miracle.
