No. Absolutely not. Forced sterilization is far, far, FAR too tied to eugenics to, in my opinion, ever use again. Period. Take the children out of custody, but that's all.

I am a firm believer that to procreate you should have to pass a test. Both based on intelligence, competency and health. Failure should result in early abortion if an option or removal of child otherwise. However, sterilization for something that can later be changed is a bit extreme. One can become no longer an addict and no longer abusive.

No. Our laws are build on the idea that you are punished for things that you have done and not for things that you might do.

There are other ways to handle your example.
