Reading: http://notalwaysright.com/ I believe that yes, men have become rude each day. It is a combination of selfishness, inappropriate sense of entitlement, and the absence of moral and life skill education in schools.
People now believe they are entitled to be the king when they are the customers, that they have these rights and that right and they can sue you for slighlest reason if they feel uncomfortable. Society begins to be very individualized with people hardly know people next door, so the society informal "reward and punishment" system cannot control people behavior anymore. In small village or back then, someone will be shunned if they are being rude. Being shunned means they might lose their social support system.
Now people only see how many cars they own, how much money, how much power, to determine their social standing in society, not their behavior. Our societies increasingly reward materialistic achievements and neglects behavioral aspects of someone.
Daniel Goleman discusses these issues in his book Emotional Intelligence and Social Intelligence.

I don't think the state of the economy is anything to do with it.It just seems to go hand in hand with the "throwaway society" In previous years when all the things we now take for granted were not around, people were more courteous. Also, some parents do not seem to teach their childeren manners anymore then, when they go to school, the situation becomes worse.

No ! we can not compare the entire society becoming rude, It is the phenomena of the nature to change the situation, according to the situation arrived to live in the present , one day or other nature will take care to control the conditions at times need. just wait with peace .

Hmm... depends where you are.
I've heard that in some locations with long, strong traditions of extreme politeness, like the American old south, they are starting to get more rude by historical standards, yet New York, which used to be one of the most obnoxious places to deal with, has started to become more civil and polite.
I suspect that world wide it's leveling out to some sort of global average, where for some places it will seem to be getting ruder, whereas for others it will seem to be getting more civil and polite.
That would be an interesting socioculturalanthropology study for some aspiring grad student, wouldn't it?

Yes, I think that the human race is becoming more rude. Nowadays not too many people say thank you or you're welcome. I believe, based on my experience, that 15 or 20 years ago, people use to say these phrases more often. I do not think that the human race is becoming more rude because of our economy. I think we are becoming more rude because people are forgetting to teach their kids manners.
In addition to that, I do not think we are losing our ability to be compassionate. For example, I feel sad when I hear that someone lost their house. But sadly, I cannot give them money to pay their mortgage. I can only tell them I feel sorry and help them to move.
