Of course she should be allowed to travel to receive her award. The fact that she has been denied by the communist Cuban government tells us much about the woeful condition of freedom in Cuba. These denials of freedom of the press, freedom to travel, freedom of speech and expression, freedom of information, and so on, are just the sort of human rights violations that were once met with criticism by our government. Now our so-called leaders stand with silly grins on their faces, arm in arm with military dictators who deny their citizens the most basic of human rights.
I wish that Yoani was able to receive the award she so richly deserves, and I wish to God that my government supported her rights to do so.
