Answered Conundrum Next Conundrum
If a DNA test revealed that you were not the father of your 5-10 year old child, would you feel any different about the child?
Would the many years spent with the child outweigh any personal problems you may have with non-genetic relation to the child?

Interesting question. One that has always been in the back of my mind regarding my own son. I've often pondered this very scenario and thought how I would react to a DNA test proving that I'm not the biological father. My son is 13 now and I've always been very close to him. I was there the day he was born and have always felt that biological connection to him.
A DNA test could never take that away. I love my son with all my heart biological dad or not. My son has never known anyone different as a father and for me to react indifferently to a DNA test would only effect him.
No, I would not feel any different about my son should a DNA test prove me not the father.

I think it is possible to be just as close and love an adopted child as much as a child that was born to me. If it was the case I found a child I thought was biologically mine was not, it would not change the fact that I raised and cared for the child, nutured and loved him/her. I believe you don't love a child for the blood in thier veins but for the people they are and who you help them become.
