If you are superstitious, would you pay real money to prove that your superstitions are true?

Many superstitions and wives tales can be proven either true or false with science and data collection. However, doing it yourself is time consuming, and you may also botch your research by not being truly unbiased. Would you be willing to spend money and hire people to do a fair job and determine whether you really should be superstitious about certain things?

In theory, I would absolutely love to be able to pay someone to find out if some superstitions are true. I am not overly superstitious, but I still avoid walking under ladders and I do not put my purse on the ground because it is supposed to be bad luck. However much I doubt that these actions themselves bring about consequences, I do believe that if you start THINKING that bad (or good) things will happen then there is a higher probability that they will. Unfortunately though, there is no real way to test superstitions because there are so many other factors involved, so I would probably not actually pay money for such a study.

While I no longer consider myself superstitious in any way, I think that if I did hold a specific type of belief that I was sure might bear some truth, I would try to find a way to prove my suspicions. I don’t think that buying myself proof of a certain occurrence will truly help me confirm any superstitious belief I might hold. I am certain there are a number of people out there claiming to be psychics or otherwise spiritually gifted and otherworldly-inclined. But the truth is that if I personally do not believe in superstitions, then I will likely not obtain a valid answer to my questions about the supernatural and other forces effecting indescribable phenomena. I have to be honest and say that up to maybe 10 years ago, I was more than convinced (mainly due to my superstitions) that some supernatural forces existed. Now, being a more educated individual and considering everything from a more scientific perspective, I am not so sure that things exist that we can neither see or perceive in any other way nor have any proof for. For that reason, i would probably be highly suspicious of people claiming to be able to prove (for monetary compensation) that some superstitions out there do exist. Of course, if I could be presented with viable proof that I can perceive, I might just be convinced of such talents.
