If out of the standard choices, I guess I'd have to go with a creature that gives me a more subtle gift - so I'd go with Falcor, the Luck Dragon.
He flies, talks, wisecracks, chases bullies that chased you. All around strong choice.

A unicorn is what I would want!
They are majestic and magical. You could ride it like a horse but you need to be careful you don't get bucked off of the front.YIKES.That could hurt.

Next would be a dragon,You could have it fly you around and scare the S*** out of people!

and third would be a troll, A troll would be like your ugly best friend,It would always make you look AWESOME!!!!

I want Sapphira, Eragon's dragon! How can something be so cute, but huge and scary is beyond me. The author is a genius!

For others, I'd want a pegasus or unicorn. They are so beautiful.

Then, I'd want a hippogriff.
