I think that "crashing" a party is rude, the scope of the specific party does not change my opinion on this.
So no I would not crashed the White House State Dinner even if I knew I could get away with it.

Sure, why not? It'd make an amazing story to tell.
You mention "getting away with it." Now, this is the White House State Dinner. The people in charge have more than enough resources to punish you if they are seriously annoyed. But since you got away with it, they didn't. Trust me -- if they seriously thought someone was a security threat, it would have been taken care of pretty decisively.
I personally believe Obama had to be at least a bit amused at the whole thing.
