I think it would take some time to get over, but if I had to I would try and get over it. I was in a serious car accident where I ran into somebody from behind on a dark, rainy night with just one pocket of fog in the whole road. It took me six months to be able to drive at night in the rain, and even then I had to stop and let somebody else drive if it got foggy. I NEVER saw the car I hit until after I recovered consciousness. It was like I was driving along at 55, hit a dip in the road, a foggy patch and then an explosion. In my mind, fog and driving became connected with painful explosions over which I had no control. I imagine a plane mishap could be similar in that you have no control over it, and in that you mind plays funny tricks in making connections that are meant to preserve you. Your mind sees that airplane (or that fog) as a danger, and is telling you DON"T DO IT. You have to over-ride with manual controls which is difficult, but sometimes has to be done.

I would fly again. I would realize that I was spared either due to God or a very skilled pilot or both and then I would fly on to my original destination and then fly back home. I would still continue to fly and be thankful every day that I survived. Just as I would continue to drive if I had a terrible automobile accident.

I think something like that would take time to get over as well. Something like that could actually cause someone to have PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder), which may require time and or help to overcome.
I was in a plane once that was on a landing approach when we suddenly started going back up. That was pretty scary for a few minutes but not enough to put me off flying. Other than that, the only similar type experience might be a car accident. After one of those, I was afraid to get in a car. However, it's nearly impossible in many of the places I have lived to get around without a car. Cities have public transportation but rural areas usually don't which makes a car a necessity. Usually though after a short time, I'm back to driving normally.
After an accident not related to a car, where I was in the hospital for a month, I was petrified of leaving the hospital just because I didn't want to get rehurt (even though the probability of that happening might be small). I was scared to get in the car. Once home, I didn't want to leave the house. Slowly though, I overcame those feelings. I imagine I would overcome the fear of flying too if something like that were to happen.

I have only flown once since 9/11, and I was sorry I did. Honestly, most journeys are faster by car, now that they have put all those showy but ineffective security measures into place at the airports here in the US.
If I had been in a scary incident during that one time that I did fly, I would probably have sworn off flying altogether. As it is, I will only fly if I am in an extreme hurry, such as for a job interview or a funeral.
One of my favorite TV shows is LOST. In case you are unfamiliar, the premise is that weird radioactivity on an island causes a plane to crash there, and then the survivors of the plane crash have a bunch of adventures. Six of them manage to get off the island, but they fly again to go back, they are so addicted to the drama. I love this show, but I would not want it to happen to me in real life, not even a little bit!
LOST is on ABC Tuesday nights at 9/8c.

Yes and soon. I was coming back from Italy on Alitalia once and the plane was taken off to the side of the tarmac. The Police boarded in flac jackets and went through all areas of the plane and removed a food cart after looking up in the cieling panel. It was then explained that there was a bomb scare and those who wished to leave could. Some people disembarked and others who had flown stand-by joined us. We landed in JFK, NYC, without further incident.

I would obviously need time to recover, but I think I'd have to. I just can't imagine getting through the rest of my life without having to fly fairly frequently. My theory is that the level of air travel in future decades will be going up, not down, so it would be pretty difficult for me to swear off it forever.
