I honestly think there are better ways to relieve most pain than to use a substance that damages your lungs (if you smoke it, rather than eating it or using it as a patch), interferes with your ability to think, and causes many people to overeat. That having been said, I don't care if other people use it. I don't want it used around me, because the smell makes me sick, but if people want to use it, it doesn't really effect anyone else. It's a personal choice like drinking alcohol.
I currently have a lot of back pain, and I'm trying massage, stretching, and heat. My next step is to see a doctor, but marijuana would be a last, last, last resort.

I know several people not even 50 that use marijuana for pain. Marijuana is used in treating Cronic pain among other conditions like AIDS, Hepatitis C, Multiple Sclerois and nausea and vomiting in cancer patients. I would use marijuana if I had pain bad enough that it would ease the pain. Sure the doctor can prescribe other drugs like Vicoden or other pain pills, but for me I could not take one of these and say go to work I'd fall asleep lol.

Marijuana was commonly recommended by physicians for a number of complaints at the turn of the 20th century, and considering the expense and potential adverse effects of modern pharmaceuticals, I say it's time to return to natural methods of healing.

If the Marijuana is prescribed by a Doctor for pain, that's fine, otherwise thier just smok'in dope. I smoked a little when I was in high school. I wasn't a stoner, but I have some "experience in the field" you might say, and I don't ever remember any pain relief, I just remember gett'in stoned. LMAO!
If a person's pain level is such that they concider breaking the law, they should talk to thier doctor's about pain clinic's where they can approach the pain from several direction's. There is no pain relief in jail or prison, not really when you concider the price you might have to pay for.

It really depends on the situation. I am totally and completely against the legalization of marijuana; yet I also see the medicinal quality that marijuana has.
But as I said, it would depend on the situation. If I am in horrible pain because cancer has destroyed my body and marijuana relieves both the pain and helps with hunger issues - yes, absolutely. For a mild headache, no. I do have migraines sometimes that get so horrible that I'd be grateful for someone to just knock me out - would I take it during my worst migraines if legally prescribed? Yes. I would.
Before I would use it though, the situation would have to be dire and debilitating. I value my brain cells. I don't want to be like some of the people I know - the ones that can't hold a conversation and are obviously complete burn outs.

As someone who has smoked a great deal, yes I would. Marijuana does effectively both relax the body and relieve pain with in moderation no side effects what so ever and isn't additive physically. How many severe pain relievers can you name that have no side effects and aren't addictive? I'd much rather be smoking or eating a little herb than popping a pain killer such as vicodin. I'd much rather others take that route as well.
So I'm all for using Marijuana as a pain killer and I support full legalization. I see no reason it's criminalized in the first place.

I suffer from arthritis and I'm quite frequently in a great deal of pain. I try to stay away from prescription drugs as much as I can. I just try to take aspirin and keep moving. With that being said...
I wouldn't use it. It's not that I don't think people should it's just that I don't like it. I never have and I don't expect that will change.

I have chronic pain from fibromyalgia. My doctor prescribed Percocets and Fentanyl patch after trying many other pain relievers. Marijuana stops my pain as effective as the stated drugs. I strongly suggest it's side effects and safety factor greatly exceed available pharmaceuticals. Has anyone died from marijuana overdose? How about percocets or the Fentanyl patch? The doctors had me on a regime that would shorten my life substantially according to specialist at the Cleveland Clinic. Thankfully I found out soon enough. Let me do it my way now.

If I were in chronic pain that only the marijuana would solve, then yes I would. I have no problems with people that have chronic pain that use it as well, especially people fighting cancer. Anyone who has known someone fighting cancer knows how much pain they are in usually on a daily basis. This is something that doesn't go away with wanting and doesn't go away with any kind of prescription drug. There are many studies that show it's benefit; however, it has been so maligned by the anti-drug campaign that the people who could use it are denied the ability, which seems ridiculous to me. I am not an advocate of drug use. The only time I have used drugs was when I was in the hospital after a bad accident and was put on a morphine drip. But I do agree with the medical uses of marijuana.
