I think it would depend upon the circumstances and nature of the crime, the amount of danger I or people I knew were in and possibly other factors as well such as the quality of law enforcement (for example, were they in on the crime, etc).

I don't try to report crimes that are their word against mine (no credible witnesses or evidence or loss under $25k) since they aren't pursued anyway. Even in a fight if the cops don't see it with their own eyes they won't pursue it beyond keeping the peace. However anything captured on video (make sure audio recordings are legal in your area) speaks for itself.
