By "last date", I presume you're thinking of the last date found on a Mayan calendar... the date that some people believe means the end of the world... right?

If so, then that date that corresponds to either 21DEC+2012 or 23DEC+2012.

However, the Mayan calendar starts at 11AUG-3114 or 13AUG-3114.

If Mayans marked a new year as the anniversary of when their calendar starts (most likely... that's what would make the most sense) then a new year would be in the second week of August, but the last day on the Mayan calendar is in the third week of December, so it ends in the middle of the year.
