What are some of the best reasons to want either a girl baby or a boy baby?

Do you have a personal preference? If so, why do you desire a child of a certain sex? If you are not picky, can you think of reasons why a couple may want either a boy or a girl (apart from the cute pink or blue items you can buy for them)?

I never cared much, but I have some thoughts.

1. I think there are still a lot of folks (maybe mostly men), who feel a responsibility or desire to "carry on the family name". It's not such a stretch to understand how the last male "Culverson" might not want to see the lamily line of 5oo years die out wiht his generation.

2. Some men are afraid to be a daddy's to a little girls that they don't understand and think they would rather to raise football playing hellions. Wait till they get a load of their little princess. They'll be lost a first sight.

3. Some Mom's really don't know much about boys or men. My wife was raised in a household of four women and no men. You can see where she might prefer a little girl.

4. If they already have one, they might want one of the opposite sort and then pla to call it quits.

5. They may want a brother for a little girl or a sister for a little boy.

6. A man may feel he needs help on the farm, and may feel boys could be of more help.

7. Unfortunately and sadly, some parts of the world continue to practice the sexism that is still deeply ingrained in society and culture.

I actually have a reason to fear getting pregnant with a girl. In my husband's family, when the girls reach their late twenties, they lose it. All my husband's aunts are mentally ill and in institutions, and his sister is showing signs. His grandma had the problem, and her mother before her. She had three daughters, all who had mental illness by age thirty. One has had a daughter who also had mental illness. The problem is, his mother has a similar problem affecting several people in her family but not all of them like her ex husband's family. Hers doesn't only affect the women though and may be caused by environment. Thankfully, my husband shows no signs of the problems they all have. If I could afford to have the spinning therapy with IVF, I would likely go for it. Though I'd love to have a girl, the thoughts of his aunts are never far from my mind.
