Answered Conundrum Next Conundrum
What have you learned from the mistakes you have made in your life?
In my 47 years I have made a lot of mistakes. Most of them were based on following my heart. It seemed like a good idea in theory but I have learned from these that it's not always a good idea to follow your heart. Sometimes you should think it through and look before you leap.

Most important things I have learned:
1. Never give up everything for anyone. If it takes giving up everything you have going for you in order to be with someone, they are not worth being with. They are simply robbing you emotionally, monetarily, and psychologically.
2. Never set aside your dreams or passions because they don't "fit in" with your life at that time. You will always regret not going for what you want.
3. You need your friends and family. Take care of them because they will take care of you. Two people make a journey short.
4. Forgive yourself. It's hard, but it's worth it. You can't have a life when you are angry at yourself all the time.
5. Give back. Everyone needs to.

I think we have all made mistakes in our lives. But I think what differentiates a mistake from an experience is whether or not you learned something from it. Over the years, I've learned that we are meant to make mistakes. In other words, if life was always perfect, what would be the point of being here. Without feeling hurt, we would never appreciate the feeling of content and love. With the feeling of fear, we would never appreciate the feeling of courage. And without the feeling of making a mistake, we would never appreciate the feeling of pride and accomplishment of making the right choice. Our mistakes form our character and without them, we wouldn't be who we are today.
I have learned patience, and gratitude. I have learned that by having the courage to make a decision, even the wrong one, can lead to finding the answers. Without my mistakes, I wouldn't be me.
