I'm going to say that I don't think it's possible to truly judge someone without understanding their motives.

Having said that, I would say that it's easier to make a snap judgment on a person that take the time to try to evaluate their motives and come to a truly informed judgment of them, but if we don't understand a person's motives, we are really not qualified to evaluate them.

Also, judging (evaluating) someone, once you've gathered as much evidence as you can, isn't an intrinsically bad thing. If I'm going to hire a babysitter for my children, for example, I would be negligent not to judge whether that person is trustworthy.

I'm only human and I'm prone to mistakes so I think most of the time, it's easier to judge a person. Most people are, not just me. I know it sounded unfair for the other party but that's the way things go. But of course it doesn't mean time will never come when I couldn't understand him/her. As I start to get to know him/her, I'll also start understanding everything.

It takes time to understand a person, but still, it is possible.

I think it is always easier to judge someone than it is to try and understand the motivation behind their behavior. Understanding someone's motives takes more time, effort and understanding than most of us are willing to spend, especially when we can make a snap judgment and feel relatively justified by it. I also think that when we attempt to understand someone's motivations, it means looking deeper at our own selves and perhaps what we might have said/done to contribute to the person's words/actions. It is much easier to keep things on a superficial level.

Oh much easier to quickly judge them, which is sad. It does take time and effort to try to understand them and that is a luxury I do not have.
