Myself.
My wife.
My cat.

We are a small enough family that we have lots of freedom, we can vacation at the drop of a hat without worrying about taking the kids out of school. My cat can be left alone with an auto feeder for a couple of days.

My wife and I have chances to get alone time without feeling like I am neglecting any kids.

. . . and finally I only have one spouse so I don't have to worry about the law. ^_~

In the future I'd like to have a one small happy family. :) Of course there would be me, my husband, a son and a daughter... additional pets would be nice like some cats and dogs. ^^

I'd like to have a son first so that he could look over my younger daughter... y'know, like how older brothers protect their little sisters from boys and other distractions. lol

Why a small family? It's not easy bringing up children. I saw that from my parents and from other families as well. I'd like to give the best for my future children so it's better if I have lesser children.

Growing up as an only-child most of my life (my little brother was born when I was fifteen years old) I always swore I would have a big family with at least 3 children. I wanted two girls and one boy. After meeting my husband and having our first child, however, my husband (who in turn came from a big family) insisted on having only one child or at least waiting for some years before we tried for another one, so we could give our son everything he wanted and needed, along with our undivided attention. We heeded his advice and did wait for 5 ½ years before we had our second child. Having grown up alone with only cats and a dog, I had finally convinced my husband to give our son a sibling. I had always felt it was not fun to grow up by myself and watch my friends go home after a long day of playing and spend the evening with their siblings while I was all alone. Today we have two children and once again 5 ½ years have passed since the birth of my second child. However, a new baby is nowhere in sight nor is it in discussion. My husband says he is done having children, but I am actually still considering expanding our family by one more. I’m not sure if it has to do with the fact that I have two boys and the wish for a little girl has not yet been fulfilled, or whether after seeing my two children growing more and more each day the yearning for a small bundle of joy has once again surfaced. Whatever the reason for my wish, I never quite made it to my childhood aspirations of having a very large family. But children are a great deal of work and responsibility, and so I think my perfect family size would be somewhere around 4 or 5 individuals and a pet or two. Maybe since both my boys are growing up and becoming more responsible, my husband will consider a third child some time in the future.
