"Apathy is a b****, and it's the reason the generations before you didn't do nearly enough to make the world you live in better. Don't ever stop caring about yourself, your fellow humans, or the world you live in, or your own children will live in a world at least as bad, if not worse, than the one you live in."

I was going to write a big long paragraph in support of that simple statement. But I don't really think it's necessary. It pretty much explains itself. :/

One piece of advice that I would give to the future generation is to love people and use things instead of using people and love things. The generation today and the next generation in the future I am sure will be so overwhelmed with things that there is a tendency for them to focus on acquiring things which they thought would make them happy and satisfied that they forgot relationships with others is far more important.

I think this one piece of advice will remind them that "no man is an island." That accumulating and loving material things will make them miserable human beings in the end.

Hear hear. Materialism is one of the worst ideas ever conceived, I.M.H.O.

Learn from everyone and everything around you, study the past, watch nature, appreciate what you have, take risks, and really, really experience love. Life is a wisp of vapor in the wind. Enjoy it, because you can't hold onto it.

Have fun, but work too.

Take full advantage of your school years. Actually pay attention in class and learn something. Don't just go through the motions. Think ahead to when you will be working and trying to start a family. Plan for what your career is going to be. Think of your first job as preparation for your next job, and so on. Always remember that your current supervisor will be asked for a reference by your next supervisor. Act and work accordingly. Don't get so caught up in pleasure and music and movies and dating for fun that you forget to plan for your future.

Do the best you can and don't give up easily. If you regret for not working hard enough, it'll be too late to change things. Make a lot of friends. They will spice up your life and give you support when you need it. Life is so much meaningful if you have close friends. Enjoy your life but don't destroy it.

Don't be afraid to be different. The things, habits, interests and products that society is selling you are not necessarily the best ones out there; they're only prominent because someone wants to make money off them.

Instead, find out what YOU like. Your greatest gift, after all, is that you're your own person. Take advantage of that! Be distinguishable. Go for real values instead of the easy-sell versions that are around you. All of this will make you both interesting and a person of character. And the world needs far, far more of them.

My beloved future homo sapiens:

You are living on a dynamic planet as a member of a species that is equally dynamic in terms of culture and intellect.

You will always be one step from redemption, just as you will always be one step from damnation.

Never lose your sense of curiosity. Call it what ever you like: destiny, fortune, fate. Just never lose it.

Be grateful and learn from the past, but also look with anticipation to the future.

Be peace loving, but do not hesitate to defend what you know to be right.

Follow your convictions.

May you be wise, healthy and strong. God Bless you.

Sincerely,

An ancestor of yours that you will surely make proud.

Treat everyday as an adventure. Enjoy the day and make the most of it. Make friends when you can and hold onto them as long as you can.

Obey the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

This is a tenet of every religion in the world, and it applies even to atheists and agnostics. If every person on earth adhered to this on a daily basis, there would be no wars, no famines, no drug dealers, and no economic crisis threatening to destroy the world as we know it. The government would not have to take care of the poor, because we would do it.

It sounds idealistic, and it is, but "He ain't heavy, he's my brother" could go a long way toward world peace and prosperity.

Take care of our family, spank a child that needs it, praise them as needed. Hug your children and spouse often and let them know you love them. Be true to yourself, your country and those people around you. Don't say a harsh word, cuz you never know when it will turn around and bite ya on the butt.
