The number one thing for me is observing how someone treats service providers, meaning how does someone treat a sales clerk or a waitress or the receptionist at the doctor's office. If someone is overtly rude to a service person, especially with little to no provocation, my opinion of that person dips dramatically.

How a person stands is also important. Someone who constantly stands cross-armed often makes me wonder if they are perpetually angry or closed off, and thus leaves more reluctant to put forth the (perceived) effort of getting to know that person.

Lastly, how a person speaks is important to me. Someone who constantly peppers their conversations with "like" or unnecessary foul language can leave me with a bad taste in my mouth. I like people with a large vocabulary - however, people that use 5 point words just to use them completely negate that.

There are, of course, other factors, but these are my top three.

• Thank you for your answer. I agree, posture, speech and interaction with service staff can provide you with good information to determine at least a partial opinion on that person.

I think the honesty level of a person is important,
another is a person graciousness,
nothing is more important than being true to your self.
whether being true to my self is etiquette or right manner,
would depend on person to person judgement.
