I wanted a unicorn.
The last unicorn is still my favorite movie. I was perfectly aware that they no longer exist, and I wanted one anyway.

I wanted a cheetah.
I lived on a big farm, mainly bush, 3000 acres. Dry scrubby vegetation, like the African Savannah in some places, lots of sand and tall brown grass. I thought a cheetah would be perfect :)
We could go out into the bush together and hunt rabbits or something, swim in the dam. It would protect me and run with me and be my friend....
But it cost a lot to fence 3000 acres so my Dad always said no ..... hehehe he never said it was a silly idea, just that we couldn't build the fence to keep it.
...ah memories

I wanted a pari of heels with buckles all over them. They were the most beautiful shoes I had ever seen. They were $20.00 in the 1970's and so I saved and saved my little $5.00 allowances until I had enough. I went to the mall and went into the store, straight back to the shoes and ... they were gone. Gone... I was shattered.
But I still loved the look of those shoes. They would have been my first high heels.

I got interested in science very early and desperately wanted a microscope. I wanted to study the plants that grew around me in Florida, and tiny fragments of the sea shells that were part of my collection. Of course, I never got a microscope. I don't think my parents could have afforded one that was more than a toy even if they didn't have old-fashioned ideas about what a girl would grow up to be. If I was just going to get married, I didn't need a microscope. I still want a microscope, but I know I'll never have one.
