I don't agree that the loss of the will to live equates to the end of life. If for no other reason, the will can come back and everything will be fine. Once someone actually passes away, feelings and intentions really don't matter anymore.
I'm sure a large number of people have temporarily lost the will to live for a brief period of time at some point or another. Perseverance is what brings them back.

That depends which definition of the word life you are referring to, scientifically life ends when you biologically stop functioning, but in my personal opinion once you've lost the will to live you might as well terminate that function so in a sense your life has ended.

Life ends at conception. The rest is just winding down.

@silverhammer I could not agree more. For the most part disappointment in life comes from the belief that what we are experiencing now is a "life" and we expect to much of it and ask it to be longer. Life ends at conception.. what we are doing is dying a death for the moment of conception. I though I might be the only one who saw this. Thank you.

I believe the loss of will to live does not mean the end of life it is just a loss in self-perceived quality of life and this really depends on a lot including personal beliefs and spirituality.
I consider myself a spiritual being having a physical experience and I understand it is temporary, physically. Many spiritual people, even highly spiritual people, keep a priority on the physical like they see themselves as physical beings having a spiritual experience. I just have no concept of myself (spirit) dying. I know my body is a temporary incarnation which I understand ends upon physical death and I pray that in my bodies ending times I still have the will to live and although I know this is not guaranteed I also pray the hope I have now lingers even in those trying times.

Physical life ends when the biological functions stop. Spiritual life may or may not end at that same point. Losing the will to live is a condition of the quality of life which may improve over time.
Sometimes, I have seen it happen, when people lose the will to live, they die. However, sometimes, I have seen it happen, when people lose the will to live, they live. The quality of their life may be gone and they may wish they were dead but they live on. That is truly a sad state of affairs!

Losing the will to live is something that can actually return, I have seen someone on the brink of death and the doctor told them one more time, if you want to fight we can help you. You have to choose now. She chose to fight back from death's door. It took 28 days for her to just come out of Intensive Care but she fought so hard.
The Doctor told her, that she was closer to death than life. Did she want this to end. I was very happy hear her very weak "no. I want to live". She put up one amazing fight and she did win that battle.
