Conundrum Next Conundrum
Why do people spend so much time voting down YouTube videos and leaving nasty comments?
I have to wonder why these people do not have lives. If you do not like someone's video, why not stop it and go look at something else? Why vote it down, watch their other videos and vote them down and then leave nasty comments? Just seems like it is common sense to move on and stop watching?
What happened to that saying "If you do not have anything nice to say, say nothing at all?"

I totally agree with you. I have set my YouTube account to allowing comments that have been approved by me only. I noticed many people would leave nice comments and then you would get a couple that were rude.
I have never left a nasty comment to anyone. I have never even voted a video down. As you mentioned, I will stop a video I am not interested in, period.
Perhaps people do have to much time. The things that stinks about the Internet is we can say or do whatever we want and hide behind the screen. No one will ever know who we are. This allows people to be braver and let their "true self" come out.
How about saying things in person to someone. That is alot harder. Truthfully, I think the only reason do vote videos down or say nasty things is because they can. Be rude to others and make yourself feel better.

I'm only aware of two scenarios why people would vote down and leave really nasty comments on YouTube videos.
The first group are being paid for doing so, this is sad, but unavoidable if you give people the option. I think the idea is to make their own video productions look better. Sick minds really.
The other group are just nasty people who have nothing else to do and are bitter that life has left them out. It's their imagination, of course, sitting there lazy in front of a computer, being half comfortable with food and drink is not working for a happy life.
Some of those people have also grown up in an environment where everything is always criticized and talked down, I have a neighbor who does that constantly. He's not a bad person as such, but he can just never see anything nice or good in anybody or anything. He is best and that's it.
I also think that those kinds of people thrive on negative energies and pull them in to themselves, they need to feed on them. Which is why I have decided not to give them those energies by replying.
Maybe YouTube will adopt the Google +1 in future, which would eliminate all this bad behavior on YouTube.
