Telemarketers always call at dinner time because they know that you are home. One thing they do to make sure they catch you at home is to have a computer call at all times of the day. Of course you aren't home so the phone is unanswered. But if the computer calls and you answer, it gives them notice that you are home at a certain time.

Have you ever answered a call and no one was on the other end. Check the number, it may have been that computer.

As a rule, i don't answer calls I don't recognize. And if you have one of these on your caller ID and you call it back, you may find a recording telling you that this number is disconnected. Yea how convenient. they can call you and you can't call them to tell you to take your number off their stupid list.

Telemarketing companies use shrink rays to reduce ninjas to their smallest possible size, and then pay them to go into the homes of potential customers with microscopic cameras which the ninjas set up in the dining room. They return to the company and are paid handsomely for their work, and then the telemarketers themselves are given a computer where they can watch video feeds of many houses all over the nation.

As soon as they see a family with food on the table begin to eat, they call them up and go through their sale spiel. It's not actually because they want the maximum amount of business, it's just because they get commission if the person who answers the phone is annoyed with them. The more people they annoy by interrupting nice family meals, the more they're paid. Mystery solved, eh?

Yes, it's their plan to catch you at home... they know that's when you're most likely to be there.

The work from call centers with a reach capable of encircling the globe, so they can move their targetted time zones with the sun.

Yes,that's their plan 100%. They know someone will answer their call, people are at home for dinner. There is an advantage though, when you're trying to lose some weight. Or maybe, it's the other way around, you'll get upset and you will eat more. I know it is annoying, i'm just putting it lightly. When this happens to me, a call at dinner time, i'll peek at the caller ID, if I don't know the number, I don't answer it.

Being a former telemarketer, most bigger companies are on automatic dialer system. For example, my shift would begin at 5:00pm. I sit down at my desk and a computer dials the numbers. It is dialing many numbers at one time. When someone says hello, the dialer connects the call to one of the telemarketers. This is why you often have to say hello twice for someone to respond. They will always call at dinner time as well as other times because every day it is someones job to call you.

This happens to me all day long they call. Next time they call tell them to put you on the do not call list. That's what I did, and I haven't gotten rid of all of them, but I get less telemarketers.

They know you will be home. They can't call during the day you will be working.

As with other answers they think that's the best time to catch someone at home

However .....
In Australia you can put your phone number on a Do Not Call register and the only companies that are allowed to call you without being fined are companies for which you are already a customer ( like your bank or insurance company ) and charities - they are exempt from the fines etc

Does your country have a similar service???

It's been brilliant and has stopped so many complaints to the marketing companies from annoyed people who hate it when they call.....at dinner time!
