That is a great question and idea!
I am not sure there is not a good news only channel, but there should be.

My thoughts are that people may not tune is as much, however I know I would.

A channel with good news only and focusing on what "good" people have done in the community and world is just what we need.

Is there as much good news to report as bad news, maybe not, but there are plenty of people that do good deeds every day. People help out and volunteer in many ways. People help build homes for less fortunate. Church groups help communities in many ways, perhaps building new playgrounds and the list goes on!
Great idea!

It may spark more people to help around their community and volunteer more, it could be a great thing!

I think it would be a great morale booster, the only problem is I don't think that the organizers would find enough to fill an entire channel and as ginamichellesattic just said, would many people tune in?

There is a morbid streak in a lot of us that keeps us watching the news even when it's the most miserable and depressing topics.

How about having a feature at the end of every news channel which is only reporting good news? The broadcasters would surely be able to find something cheerful to report even if it was one item! That way, instead of leaving everyone with a sense of doom and gloom, the news would end on a positive note and might cheer up the viewers a bit. They could even ask viewers to contribute by sending in stories or videos about something good that had happened to them or something special occurring in their neighborhood.

What a great question! Personally, I stopped watching the news a very long time ago. Every time I'd watch, I would just cry and cry. I found it to be too depressing. Sometimes, the news would even prevent me from sleeping at night. When my best friend's husband was in Iraq and now that my brother-in-law is in Afghanistan, it's even more upsetting.

When I was in college, one of my classes discussed the impact that the media had on crime rates. When news papers started publishing crime stories, crime rates started to incline. When the dead body of John Dillinger was put on display, along with photographs of his dead body, it almost had a negative effect. I can see this causing crime rate to rise rather than fall. It also gives people evil ideas.

I believe that more positive could do the world a lot of good. Not only would it be less depressing, it would encourage people to be better people and pay it forward. It would make the world a better place to live. Unfortunately we live in a world that people make money and get off on the misfortune of others.

A good news only channel, now there’s an idea. It seems that every newscast or front page of the daily newspaper begins with some kind of tragedy that that has taken place from the previous day. It can often feel like there is almost no good news in the world or very little.

For example, we constantly are reminded that more than fifty percent of all marriages end in divorce but we never hear about the couples who have managed to fall and stay and over love for decades and the love is still strong.

We often hear about the violent acts that children commit but we don’t hear enough about the some of the children who are contributing in a positive way within the world around them. I’m not sure as to how popular it would be but I definitely think there should be a good news only channel or help balance out all of the bad things that we hear about each day.

Because no one would watch it and they would go broke. Advertisers pay by viewership. That's all folks!
