Let's keep it real. Giving up your fortune to save a life is not very wise because you will be struggling yourself. I think a person should do all they can do to save a stranger's life as long as it doesn't jeopardize their own well being. Helping a person so they can help themselves is the best way to go. Instead of giving bread to a person, show them how to bake the bread. There are other ways to help besides financially. Money doesn't buy happiness but can prevent a whole lot of stress and problems that will contribute to un-happiness. Money can be the difference between having light in the house or not...Or even having a house at all. If you can share your fortune, that's great, but don't do it to the point where you will be the one struggling to survive.

Absolutely! Money is merely a survival tool to help us through this world. The only thing that really and truly matters in this world are those things money can't buy, i.e. love, compassion, togetherness, laughter, joy. Everything else, such as money, houses, cars, etc., do not last without outside intervention to maintain them. All these things are temporary, but the spirit is not. The spirit lives on forever. So to give up a fortune to allow someone to live is basically giving up something temporary to benefit something permanent, the spirit. It's really a no-brainer.
