Answered Conundrum Next Conundrum

Some churches are buying real estate to help their struggling communities. One even bought a golf course! Should churches be doing this?

Personally, I think it's great! One role most churches accept is helping those in need, and in my opinion this is an innovative way to do it. What do you think?

It looks like a win/win situation. Ultimately, the churches can eventually sell the properties when market prices go back up, or they can continue to obtain funding from commercial properties to fund ministries.

I don't see why there should be any controversy over this. It's not hurting anyone; it has the potential to help people. I think it's great too!

As long as the community projects are open to all in the community, I think it's fine. If they only benefit church members, then I believe they could still do them, but should be taxed on any capital gains or income.
