The Salvation Army...
They do a lot of work that I'm so glad that someone is doing. In so many ways they're working with people who often get ignored and have major problems. I don't think that I'd be able to do what they're volunteers do on a daily basis, so If my donations help them continue then I'm so glad that I can help in some way.

I always donate to the Salvation Army so they can feed the every increasing numbers of homeless. I know the organization spends much of the donation on the service, and not on wages and fancy advertising.
I always donate to our local bush fire brigade - Christmas is fire season and they are volunteers who need fund raising dollars for equipment and support over the summer. They are my local protectors over the three months of summer and I try very hard to support them.

There are two causes I will be supporting this holiday season.
1. The Humane Society. Due to the economy, there has been a rise in abandoned pets. There are just too many! We are doing two fund raising events to help with food and supplies for the many animals waiting to be adopted.
2. The Armed Forces serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. To make their Christmas a little cheery our church is sending Christmas stockings filled with small treats.
