Are Black Friday ads being leaked on purpose?

Kmart's Black Friday ad was "accidentally" leaked and it seems there are a number of ads that are leaked every year. Is this part of promotion or are they really unintentional?

I believe many of them are. With the current state of our economy, retailers are finding it more crucial than ever to catch the consumer's attention. Black Friday loss leaders are one way to do just that. They allow the consumer to have a perception of increased value for products they would not normally purchase due to the increased cost or that they have been waiting to purchase due to a lack of sale prices.

It is also a tradition in American retail culture. It is something that consumers look forward to every year. It gets their blood pumping.

Many consumers love a good secret as well. Retailers know that many cannot keep secrets to themselves. Black Friday advertisement leaks are a way for retailers to have consumers promote their products through what is arguably the most powerful form of marketing of all time - word of mouth advertising.

When it comes to shopping mostly they are being leaked on purpose. Keep in mind that Black Friday is one of the biggest shopping days of the season. In today's economic times stores like Kmart needs all the advance help they can get to compete.

It also makes good business since to intensify the hip by either denying or promoting "sneak peeks" into upcoming sales events.
