I agree, if they're not touching your privates (or other things requiring necessary hygiene), why obsess over it?

I can understand being grossed out by it, but to actually dislike the person over something so minuscule is actually kind of wrong. A person is not defined by the state of their nails. I'd understand if the rest of them was poorly groomed but just having a little dirt under their nails isn't a crime or a statement of their personality. At best, it only means that they aren't afraid to work hard and get a bit dirty while they're at it.

I think it is wrong. My daughter constantly has dirty fingernails even though I clean them just as constantly. Granted, she is a child, but I don't know how her fingernails get so dirty.
It is wrong to dislike someone based on appearance. That is stereotyping. However, I certainly wouldn't want that person to be touching my stuff all the time.

You should be like lets go get our nails done cause if there dirty when u go they will clean them. Don't judge people not everybody feels the same way. Or just be like your nails are dirty girl and laugh . Or be a " GOOD FRIEND AND TALK TO HER " cause how would you feel if someone wasn't your friend cause your nails were dirty if the think about it it's really stupid to do something like that to anybody some people clean things at different times . Have you stop to think about her culture and about her.

In my opinion, it's wrong. Most of the time, people don't pay attention to their nails anyway. People also tend to do things, some of which might involve getting dirt under their nails. And more to the point, the condition of a person's nails is an incredibly trivial and shallow reason to like or dislike somebody. Period.

I think it totally depends on why the person's nails are dirty. Do they do yard work or machine work where their nails get dirty or are they just 'unclean'? Judging or disliking a person because of their appearance is wrong but at the same time if it bothers you then you may not want to be around them.
If this is someone you do like otherwise then maybe you should take the time to find out why their nails are dirty.

I'm a gardener, and my fingernails and toenails are frequently dirty. I don't have time to have perfect nails in either place. I can usually keep my toenails painted, and cover most of it, but my fingernails are a different story. My fingernails are always clipped pretty short, but still, they are seldom manicured.
If someone didn't like me because of something that petty, it would be their problem, not mine. Someone who judges you based on your nails is probably superficial and vain, and you wouldn't want them as a friend anyway.

Wrong to dislike them, but I certainly wouldn't want to eat anything they had prepared. Nails harbor all kinds of bacteria and gross stuff and handling food with dirty nails is not safe.
Yes, people's nails get dirty, but I honestly believe most people clean them up at least when they wash their hands. When I see dirty nails I wonder when the last handwashing was and why a perfectly capable person hasn't washed their hands recently enough to notice dirt in their nails.
I have friends and family that occasionally have dirty nails. I will mention it like "man your nails are dirty" and leave it at that. Disliking them for that reason seems petty though.

If you really like someone who has a disgusting problem, you would work through it with the person. If a nail problem keeps you from liking a person, you really don't actually like the person.
Sometimes we don't know why we don't like someone and grab onto little things as the reason. But when you really like someone, you will fight your way through problems. If the other person is not willing to work with you over something that you find to be a problem, then he/she likely doesn't really like you.
I've known people with lists of why there are looking for, but when the actually fall in love, the list no longer matters. The reverse is true. If something small keeps you away from someone, you really aren't interested.
