I think overall it's probably gaining more acceptance. Mainly due to Hollywood's promotion that this is OK, e.g:
> Michael Douglas and Catharine Zeta Jones
> Harrison Ford and Calista flockhart

Numerous other age gap marriages are featured at:

I think these days in society people are mainly of the view - Well if it makes them happy!

For centuries older rich men have married younger women. Take Henry viii, King of England who married Catherine Howard who was 30 years younger than him.

So overall I think that this is a fashion that's been around for centuries. With Hollywood portraying this largely as normal and fashionable even, I think this is shifting public opinion largely in favour of age gap marriages.

If by accepted you mean approved of, I would have to say no. If by accepted you mean thought about as the way things are, then I would have to say yes. No one that I know is surprised when they hear about a young women dating a rich older man. The comments though do not express approval. They range from, "I don't blame her." to "That is disgusting!" Most everyone thinks that it is a bit shallow and I agree. Maybe, I'm just jealous!
