Amusingly enough, the best date I ever had didn't even happen face to face. I was in a long distance relationship, and my boyfriend and I were trying to think of a creative way to spend time together online. We both poured ourselves a glass of alcohol, connected on Skype to talk, and downloaded the free trial of World of Warcraft. We're not huge video gamers and had no interest in playing it seriously, but we both made characters and ran around exploring the virtual world and being killed by monsters and big cliffs. We were howling with laughter the entire time because it was just so ridiculous and strangely enjoyable. Eventually we found a place to watch the virtual sun set where no bears or dinosaur things could eat us, and talked on Skype and watched the fake sunset. It was a blast.
We did this about two months ago, and we're both still in the relationship. He'll be moving to where I live next spring.

Sometimes the best dates are simple ones.
It was a cool fall day. My wife and I started the morning with a nice breakfast in a cozy cafe, followed by a trip to the library where we chatted about our favorite books and what we look for in a book. We had lunch as a picnic near the library with fruit, cheese, and crackers. We stayed there long enough to watch the sun set then drove home for a romantic evening.

The best date I've ever had wasn't fancy or expensive. It was my first date with the man who is now my husband. I was having a plumbing problem and my friend sent him over to fix it. He fixed my leak then asked me out for pizza we spent three hours in pizza hut talking. :)

| Where did you go
To a now closed restaurant in Muncie Indiana. It was next to the only airport in the city (single engine private planes and a handful of commuters to Chicago) and the food was fairly enjoyable for the area.
| what did you do
Had dinner and watched a movie at her place. The movie was something I initially thought was a comedy (Trainspotting), but as anyone who has seen it knows, it was not a comedy... though less interest in the movie meant more interest in me!
| did you have a meal and something to drink?
Yes, the afore mentioned restaurant, steak and 1 or two beers.
| how long ago was it
| Where are you both now?
Married and living in Japan (where she is from)
It was my favorite date because it was the start of my relationship with "the one".
