I cheated regularly in High school, it was like a game. In college, not so much. As for Palin, she looked sort of silly, I got a bit of a grin out of that, much as I did when Obama saw dead people in the audience or when John Kerry had to come to a presidential debate all ORANGE because of his mishap with some fake tanning lotion. Politicians are a never ending source of humor.

I find the "zoomed in and found" a bit suspicious personally, but that's another story entirely.
I probably did in elementary school. I really can't remember. However, in high school, I was such a geek that I probably didn't. I prided myself on my academic ability and doubt I would have stooped to writing on myself to pass. I knew plenty of people that did that's for sure.
After having been a teacher, it's amazing the view you have from the front of the classroom, assuming you are paying attention. Not all teachers pay attention to what the students are doing during tests, but you really can see alot. I have caught students cheating with books on the side of their desks, etc, but I don't remember ever catching anyone that wrote on themselves. I might have missed it, though.

No way! I never cheated because I always prepared myself for quizzes and exams. And I hate people whispering to me asking for answers. I may sound mean but I really think that if you are a student, you ought to study your lessons. You should not rely on your classmates who are studying hard in order to pass. And because you are a student, you should have learned the lessons your teacher has taught you. Any form of cheating is a big no-no to me. It's the biggest turn-off you could ever show me even if you are the most handsome guy in the class.
Lol, I've seen the picture of Palin's hand. Well, maybe she has reasons why she wrote notes there. I think she just wants to remember the major points she will be speaking about. But, it still shows weakness.

Yes, I did write a formula on my palm because I couldn't understand the derivation. It didn't make much sense to me. So , I wrote it on my palm , but by the time I entered the classroom it was already wiped off by the sweat on my palm.

I have to admit that I have "attempted" to cheat. I think that everyone has at one point or another. But what I realized was after spending an hour writing my cheat sheet, and sitting down to take the test, I remembered everything I had wrote down, and didn't need it.

I had two teachers who allowed us one page of notes for tests. They did stipulate that the notes had to be original, not a Xerox, and they had to be in our own hand. (Printing was OK, just our own printing.)
As another poster says, writing out the page of notes was such a good way to study the material that I really didn't need it once time for the test came. One of these teachers was actually a practicing psychologist who was allowed to teach at our high school because of those credentials, and not from teacher preparation college. He claimed that research supported his methods: writing things out really does help students remember them.
I think he was right. This is subjective, of course, but I think I remember more from his psychology course than from similar courses I later took in college.
(No, I never wrote on my hand to cheat in school.)

I had never been succesful in cheating. When I was in 1st grade, I got zero because the teacher found out I was cheating. Then at high school, even when I cheated from my friends, I got the wrong answer. I generally didn't cheat though. I was raised in a very religious background and being honest was very important back then. My grade wasn't bad either. Memorizing comes easily for me.
At college, I didn;t cheat on test because most of the tests didn't require memorization but understanding and application. for statistic tests, they are always open book tests. Besides, most of my final tests were researches and papers. But I cheated once in a project and again, the lecturer knew about it and gave me hell. So no cheating for me.
Sometimes I am amazed of the lenght my students go to cheat. I always think it's a lot easier to study then to go to all that lenght just to get very short glimpse of the lesson they should have studied.
