Do you think Survivor has overplayed it's Russell card?

Russell Hantz has been dubbed the most evil villain on the show. What do you think is he an evil mastermind or exaggerated hype?

I think it was a business decision, plain and simple. Assume that X is the amount of “Survival” viewers and fans for last season. With the way TV is going, the horrible a person is (or group of people, for that matter), the more people would like to watch it.

So, we introduce a real bastard for this season of the show, and the X variable becomes X+Y, where Y is the number of NEW watchers. It's a sign of the times. Gone are the days where we as a society want to see how Charles Ingalls solved his family's problems, or where we tuned in to see if Sam and Diane were going to finally tie the knot on Cheers. No, we now want violence, social problems, mental issues, and more drama than should be legal.

Woe is us.

I disllike him and find him irritating, but I don't think he's evil. I also dont think he's a mastermind- he likes to think he is, but I don't think he's quite the puppet master he thinks he is.

I definitely think Survivor is playing him up for ratings, but I'm not sure if he'll make it to the end.

He was surely evil during the first couple episodes... The New Orleans story of course, the alliance with everybody, pouring out peoples water, burning peoples socks etc... That's pretty much the upper echelon of Survivor Evil.

Lately, I think as his team has lost more and more members he might be starting to think ahead to the merge and he could be a bit more humbled at this moment. He is probably physically and mentally fatigued, he has certainly been less of the focus lately.

In a way, yes, but since last week, I believe he's starting to FAIL.
I loved how when the tribe went against him and voted Ben out, he tried to make it look like it was his idea.

The man is a bully and center stage in his own show. It will come back and bite him - trust me. He's not NEARLY as good at this as he thinks he is. Hubris is a flaw, not a virtue.

And I'm gonna LAAAAAAAAUGH when he goes down!!!

I haven't watched Survivor for years, but this actually looks quite exciting! Reminds me of Johnny Fairplay, but more evil. Perhaps he is a little overplayed, as Survivor likes to really emphasize things like this when they're fortunate enough to have them occur, but people also love it. I'm going to say "not yet", final answer.
