You should ask yourself the reasons why you might not have gotten chosen for this particular play, practice, suck it up, and audition again for another role in another play!

I'm a writer and writing is my passion. It wouldn't matter to me if every agent and publisher in the world rejected me, I'd still write.

If acting is your passion, then getting passed up for one play isn't going to break your spirit! Keep going and you'll have better luck in the next audition!

Keep at it! Don't get discouraged! The old adage that the first 9 times you fall off a bike and the tenth you ride for a mile is soooo true (figurative, but true)! The point in it is to always get right back up after falling because eventually you'll learn not to fall.

Look back at your audition and see if you can see anything you did wrong. If not, call the directors or someone who saw your audition and see if they might be able to critique you so that you can learn what you did wrong. if they can't be bothered with it, don't worry. Just remember everything you've been taught about acting and practice it daily. If possible take classes to help you strengthen your skills.

Acting is like a lot of other things, you need to develop your skill and that takes time. You're not going to get chosen for every part, but if you stop trying just because you failed once, you'll NEVER get chosen. So audition for everything that comes up and if you have an idea of what character you're auditioning for, turn yourself into the character before you arrive at the audition. Be that character while you wait, when you walk into the audition and as you leave the audition.

Have you seen Breakfast club? In the Behind the Scenes portion of the special features, John Hughes and Judd Nelson talk about why Nelson got the part. He showed up in grune, acted like a compete jerk and when they realized it was an act, they realized he was perfect. it's said that he did even break from character when the camera was off. Molly Ringwald had problems with him backstage because he acted like Bender even when the camera wasn't on him.

(I tried to find a video clip of it but the only one I found does not have good quality sound at all. Sorry.)

It may be worth a shot. If nothing else, try to learn from your mistakes and allow them to help you grow rather than tear you down. :)

In the words of the classic song sung by Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers....

"Nothing's impossible I have found,
For when my chin is on the ground,
I pick myself up,
Dust myself off,
Start All over again.

Don't lose your confidence if you slip,
Be grateful for a pleasant trip,
And pick yourself up,
Dust yourself off,
Start all over again."

Every, and I mean that EVERY actor that there has ever been, has failed to get some part that they thought they deserved. And there's sometimes no real reason why they aren't cast.... Its part of being an actor. Sometimes the luck just doesn't come your way.

So right now, you should pick yourself up, dust yourself down and work on being a better actor... so that when the next role comes up if you get the break you'll be able to do that one even better..

(I think I'll stop here before I start singing "There's no business like show business" )
