Answered Conundrum Next Conundrum
Is it ever OK to sneak into an entertainment venue without paying?
As teens we found great amusement and challenge in hiding a kid in the trunk to sneak him into the local drive-in movie (ok I'm old), and as an adult I've taken advantage of some conveniently placed open doors to get into basketball games when I truly couldn't afford it otherwise. Would you ever sneak into an entertainment venue without paying? Would it depend on how famous the entertainer was, or how expensive the tickets and how broke you were? Or would you just never do it?

Technically... no. Just like technically it's not cool to download unpaidfor MP3's off the net, and there's no way anybody ever is going to be able to find a justification to say otherwise, because *it's entertainment*!
Justified is when the President of the US is in town to give an important address that will affect the history and economy of the nation for decades, and those who hear it first will have a definite leg up, but they're charging for tickets to hear the speech at the door, and it's not going to be broadcast nor televised, but you can't afford the price of the ticket.
Justified is *not* when it's to sneak in to see concert, or a ball game, or a movie, because those are pure entertainment, and providing entertainment is how those people make a living, so you're just cutting off your nose to spite your face if you make it so nobody can afford to be an entertainer.
The closest you can get is a sort of personal rationalization, along the lines of, "I couldn't afford it, and the bleachers weren't full", but that's about as close to an excuse as anyone is ever going to be able to get... and even then that's what it is... it's an excuse... not an explanation.
I guess it doesn't matter if you're completely capable of being 100% entertaining to yourself, but you gotta be careful when subverting the arts, because when life is boiled down to its essentials, art is one of them.

The last time I went into a entertainment venue without paying was as a kid sneaking into a movie. My Mom dropped myself, my brother, and our friend J.P to the movies. We went to go see Wild Wild West, and then we sneaked in to see the South Park movie. I don't do that anymore because I'm older, and I just think that is wrong, and would be very embarrassing if I got caught.

Although my answer may be bias, please hear me out...
I work in a busy movie theatre near Toronto, Canada and we have a lot of cases of people sneaking in. Although five or ten people a night may not seem like a big deal, it really does make a difference! As you may know, movie theatres cost a lot of money to run, and prices are rediculous for two reasons. One because the revenue made from box office does NOT go toward the theatre at all, but rather gets sent to distributors. Two is that rent alone in a 16 cinema building can range in location (my theatre is 1 million a year).
Anyways to finish what I was saying, no, it is not okay. People must pay for a reason, and we do have the right to call the police (which we never do, takes to much time) to arrest the person who didn't pay for the movie because it is a form of stealing. These buildings operate on a LOT of money, and soon enough they may have to let me go if the bottom line profits isn't meeting what it needs too.
