This is what we spent:
Son 1 (6 Year old) - Dressed as a Clone Trooper 25.00
Son 2 (11 Months) - Dressed as a Hershey Kiss 25.00
Couple of halloween parties with the kids.
Was it worth it. Yes. The memories will last me a lifetime.

Actually, I didn't spend anything on Halloween. My costume pieces were all from my wardrobe (I was a spy, so I just got a trenchcoat, glasses, pants, boots, and stuff that could look like gadgetry for my belt.) And for Halloween candy/refreshments, I just went to parties and mooched off people. I was invited, so it wasn't like I didn't have permission.
It wasn't the best Halloween, though, because I had to do work for one of my classes. Hard work, too -- running around, cobbling information together, not-quite-finished yet work for a large project. So although I didn't spend any money, maybe if I had, and done something more exciting, it would have been more memorable.

I did not spend any money on Halloween this year, and I am completely fine with that. Halloween is not one of my favorite holidays - dressing up always stresses me out because I feel like my costumes are never creative enough - and I am no longer young enough to trick or treat.
My boyfriend and I ordered in Chinese and watched TV all night, and it was one of my better holidays. I am glad not to have spent the money on Halloween so I can put it towards the holiday I love most of all: Christmas!
