Who does God bless when two Catholic Universities meet of the football field?

I live near enough to Notre Dame University to have been caught in the game day crowd more than once on days when Boston College comes to town. Does "Touchdown Jesus" cheer only for Notre Dame when both teams represent Catholic Universities?

I wanted an image of Jesus with a Michigan helmet on (I saw one a few weeks ago), but couldn't find it.

I guess He would reward the team who put in the best, purest effort. Intention is the key here. If a player (or players) simply want to play the best game they can, they are probably looked upon with a smile. If a player (or players) want to “beat” the other players, I would hope that attitude would be punished with a loss! :)

God waits until the game is over, then He blesses the winners, and offers redemption to the loosers.

The point I was trying to make is that because it's a human sport, I dont think He blesses either of them as far as teh game goes. They trained for it, so let's see what they can do with their own ability. I think He lets them play, and then maybe feels happy for the winners and sorry for the loosers.

I'm afraid the answer to this is that "God" doesn't exist and therefore can't bless anybody.

I know this isn't really the answer you're looking for and I'm not taking the mick, I just seriously can't even begin to talk about any "god" as if it's real.

Yeah, well... you believed *something* strong enough to choose to make a post about how you don't believe something, because let's be honest... if you don't believe in God, then the whole question is to you a moot point, of zero concern, and therefore one would normally move on to look for something else to post about, but you felt an urge to say something. Hmm.

I felt the urge to say something as I do when I come across ANY religious post - the same as preachers want to push their religion on others, I want to make the lot of you believe that the Bible is a lie, the Q'uran is a lie - every religious writing is a LIE.

S: "I felt the urge to say something as I do when I come across ANY religious post - the same as preachers want to push their religion on others, I want to make the lot of you believe that the Bible is a lie, the Q'uran is a lie - every religious writing is a LIE."

R: Fine, whatever, it's just that... well... for example... I was at a campfire meeting of environmentalists who were gathering to save a valley from mining, and they were entertaining each other, and some of them started singing some old-time christian campfire songs (not as lame as Kumbaya, but almost that bad...) and they could sing, and their harmonics were good, and then some bitch says, "Hey, could you *stop* it with the *religios* songs?!?"

They stopped and switched to something like "99 bottles of beer on the wall...", but I couldn't help thinking... hey, if she's athiest, then to her, a religious song should just be a piece of music, with melody and harmony... right? The only way a religious song can have any effect and mean something is if you *do*, on some level, thing there might be a message there.

That's why I always think it's odd for Athiests to get upset and involved in discussins when the premise of the discussion is layed out right from the beginning as not an intent to convert, but mearly as one of the premises for a hypothetical discussion.

Basically, the initiator of this post is just saying, "Suppose there's a God, and suppose there's two football teams from Christian universities playing, the question is, which one would God favour?"

But what you're saying is, "Hey, you can't *ask* that question, even as a hypothetical mental excercise!"

And that just doesn't make sense. That means that you're not really atheistic... it means that on some level you've got some very profound issues with the prospects and possibilities of the being or not being a God.

@shadowbear Asking someone to prove a negative is an impossibility - I can't DISPROVE the existence of "God" any more than you can PROVE the existence of "God".

Plus, this is a matter of opinion, so sources for my opinion are ME.

@omicron I see what you're saying, but I didn't get upset in my answer. I stated what I thought, which is the point of this site.

I NEVER ONCE said "you can't ask this question". I said that I couldn't give the answer the OP was looking for. That doesn't mean I'm not allowed to respond.

I CANNOT BELIEVE the ignorance of that and I truly hope you become a bit more open minded at some point in your life. You don't know me, so how ON EARTH do you think you have the right to tell me what I do and don't think or believe? Don't EVER tell me what I'm thinking, because, I'm afraid, you're not in my head and YOU DON'T KNOW EVERYTHING.

Does that come as a shock to you?

It's funny how people with religion in their lives feel the need to tell others how they feel and what they think, regardless of the fact that THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THOSE PEOPLE.

God, or however you define that universal reality that connects all things, blesses both the winners and the losers with the grace to accept their roles. It is up to the individuals to choose grace or reject it. Silly questions like who is blessed most, winners or losers, do not come into the big picture.

Namaste, Shalom, God Bless....

If there is a God I'm sure he would bless both teams. It wouldn't be offered as a reward to the winners. God would bless us all.
