Conundrum Next Conundrum
I love to eat and drink... but I hate to exercise! Does anybody have suggestions about how to make exercising "exciting" for a lazy bones?

I like to change up what I do as often as possible. While I like to keep a routine for exercise at a certain time of day, I like to try new things when I can. Variety is the key, at least for me, and helps as it's hard to dislike an exercise I have never tried, so it keeps things fun and exciting.

It's hard to say what will work for a given person's personality. For me, more intense exercise is easier to stick with. I feel like I'm working hard when I do it and I'm tired and satisfied when I finish. I also like an exercise program that changes things up every day. Personally, I do CrossFit for both of those reasons (check out crossfit.com for their free program and workout info).

I definitely have to vary my routine, as I become way too easily bored with a "set" workout plan. In any given week I'll do yoga, hike, pilates - the trick I think is finding something you really enjoy, because you'll be far more likely to stick with it. Once you stop thinking of it as exercise and more as a hobby, I think you'll be happier. Also, if you have a dog - oh boy there is motivation! Our dog gets completely nuts if we don't walk him each day...his hyperactivity is a definite motivator to get me off the couch and up walking!

I feel your pain. I hate to exercise too, but its possible to trick yourself into doing it. Music is a great motivator. Try putting on some dance music while you clean the house. You'll kill two birds with one stone. Sometimes I'll put on a regular work-out dvd and "mute it" then put music I really like on. Belly dancing is really fun and is an awesome workout too.
