I am always curious what the critics have to say. They may point out details of a movie that make me realize it is not the movie I want to spend hard earned money on, that maybe I will wait to see it when it comes out on DVD or television. So they provide a service for me. But the same could be said for movie previews. They may have influence as to whether I go or not.

But as far as what their review says influencing my opinion of the movie, no I make up my own mind and my own evaluations and reviews of each movie I see. Reviews are only a subjective appraisal of a movie. They are not the ultimate and final word. My personal appraisal has more validity to me than a review done by someone else.Their opinion interests me but I decide based on my own reactions whether I like it or not or what features appealed to me or turned me away from any given movie.

Someone cannot make me like a movie that I do not or make me hate one that I like. I do not always agree with the critics, pro or con. In fact there have been movies I love that were panned by the critics and some they praised to the skies that I found to be a waste of perfectly good film. I take what they say opinion wise with a grain of salt and flavour it with my own tastes.

If I go to a movie, I go with an open mind, review or no review.

It is no different than critics of art or music. You like what you like for your own reasons. It is personal taste.

I almost never read reviews before the movie. I think they can spoil the expectations. Generally I have unusual tastes and find some of the most bizzare or less commercial films better than what critics consider good.

Oh man, I NEVER listen to the critics. Seems like they LOVE movies like The English Patient and stories that are ridiculously long and BOOORING.
They hate movies like Animal House and Paranormal Activity. Basically what I'm saying is that they always have a way of downplaying the "fun" movies and give them awful reviews. I like to go into a movie with a clean slate and see for myself what I like. I don't need someone else to dictate what's "good" to me!

I'll take a cursory glance at the reviews, or at least the Rotten Tomatoes/Metacritic aggregate score, just to make sure I don't go to a movie that's overwhelmingly a dud. I've disagreed with the scores a couple time, but most of the time, if most people say that a movie is bad, it's going to be bad. But otherwise, I like to go in with a fresh mind and with as few spoilers as possible.

After the movie, though, you can bet I'm going to hit up the review sites. It's almost an obsession for me. After I've consumed a piece of media, I like to seek out other people writing about it, so I can think about it more and develop my opinions further. It deepens my enjoyment when I can think about movies in a different way. And "different" is the key -- usually, if I liked a movie, I'll purposefully look for negative reviews just to get that other perspective.

I find that I do not usually agree with the critics so I avoid the reviews. Their taste in movies seem to be totally opposite of mine.

I read reviews first. It's better so that I'll know what I must expect. Usually, when movies have low ratings I don't expect that much from it. Expecting too much from a bad movie will just make me just upset with the movie. At least, when I already know what others think of the movie, I won't really have this certain standards. In the end, if the movie is pretty great than what I've expected, then good. Got what I mean?

It's better not to have high expectations on some things so that you wouldn't get disappointed when you didn't get what you're expecting. This is the reason why it's still nice to read reviews.

I don't really read critics reviews that much. I just go for the ordinary viewers because sometimes, these critics have unpredictably high standards which becomes a little exaggerated most of the time. But with ordinary peoples reviews, I could relate more.

What I just don't read are spoilers. Of course I wouldn't be enjoying the movie that much if I'll read spoilers.

If I am undecided on a film then I will look for a review. If I already know its a movie I want to see, then I don't watch or read a review first.
