Indeed, I do, but it's not a collection of superfluous gadgets like you're probably thinking.

Rather, it's a stack (in the storage space) of still-working but not-as-modern versions of the appliances that we do use.

There's an old blender that still works, but it's not as "modern". There's two toaster ovens that still work, but they don't have all the features of the version we're using now. And there's *three* still-working but not-as-modern microwave ovens stacked up, not being used, because the one we're using now has all the latest bells and whistles.

The logical thing would be to ship the surplus off to the Sally Anne, but... *sigh*... the significant other wants to keep them "just in case", even though I know that if "just in case" were to ever happen, the reaction to be to rush out and buy the latest model with all the newest features.

At home, we have a lot of kitchen gadgets that my family never uses. And personally, I don't use very many of them myself. Out of them, I use:

- Silverware, of course.
- A spatula, for when I'm cooking something on top of the stove, just to keep things from sticking, to "stir" things, etc. I probably use these the most.
- Oven mitts.
- The blender and food processor. Great for making smoothies and sauces.
- The can opener if I'm opening something canned, but even this is somewhat infrequent.
- On the very rare (seriously, once or twice a year during holidays) occasions that I bake, the egg beater.

Why do I mention this? When I start to assemble my own set of kitchen gadgets, I'm probably going to be leaving a lot out. Both because I'm a frugal person, and because I really don't branch out in my cooking. I'll probably work on that in the future, but for now, I don't need much.

My living space is very limited so I try not to keep anything that I don't use.

There is a microwave sitting on the counter that mainly gets used for popping corn. Some friends were getting a newer one with all the bells and whistles even though their "old" one was practically brand new. They decided I should have it since, "everyone needs a microwave".

My friends were somewhat dismayed the last time that they visited when they discovered that I was using it as a breadbox!

Ah, yes! The stack-o-unused kitchen gadgetry.

Now, now. We should not belittle these gadgets. In my case the: citric juicer, electric carving knife, 3 electric can openers, 2 sandwich makers, hand-held "spill-less" hand mixer, electric knife duller (sorry meant to say sharpener), pasta maker, garnish tool, tortilla maker, hard boiled egg slicer, etc.

Most have but a novelty aspect, and whatever time they do save you, they wind up costing you in additional clean up time.

Incredibly, the only kitchen gadget I do find essential and use the most often, is also the cheapest, the lemon nipple. A little plastic spout that you can insert into a real lemon and as you squeeze the fruit draw just the amount of juice you need, 2 for 99 cents I believe they cost me.

But I never complain about the rest of the gadgets. When they are given to me as gifts I store some unopened. You never know when you will need a last minute bridal shower gift or Christmas present.
