Canada, China, Thailand, Chile, Indonesia, Vietnam, Mexico, India, Ecuador, 2001, Russia, 2002, Bangladesh, EU, Brazil, Iceland, New Zealand, Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia, Honduras, Venezuela, Philippines, Norway

I'd venture to say that any country with an ocean border exports fish, and a lot of it comes to the US.
Wild/Caught fish aren't like plants: they can't really be dropped into a microenvironment and raised commercially (plants=greenhouse, fish=aquarium) It would be a poor economy-of-scale to try to do that! So in order to supply the United States markets with the diversity it demands, we get fish from all over the planet!
You can get similar seafood from different places and it will look & taste totally differently. A couple of examples of this:
-- wild caught alaskan salmon vs. nova scotia sockeye salmon
-- shrimp from louisiana's coast vs. shrimp from mexico or vietnam
-- dover sole that's actually from Dover, England, vs. off california coast.
Some fish are native to certain areas of the planet. Barramundi is found near australia/tasmania, and unless it's farmed, that's the only place it will occur naturally. Like crocodiles are native to florida everglades; you wouldn't naturally find them wandering around yosemite or the brooklyn bridge!
