A good wine to enjoy in front of a fireplace for me (ah the idea seems great and a wonderful way to relax) are Prosecco, which is my favorite and pretty much goes with anything or you can go with a Chianti classic or Santa Rita from Chile.
And even though I love Prosecco, a good red wine seems great too such as a Merlot, a Sangiovese or a Cabernet from Napa.
You should probably taste a few and decide which is the best for your taste.
