LOL even in asking the question, you said '50% full' of liquid! What if it's 50% empty of liquid? Maybe it's 50% full of air!

Here's how I think about it.

If you have poured liquid into the glass only halfway, then it's 50% full.

If, on the other hand, you had a full glass that you drank or poured out 50% of the liquid, then it's half empty.

If you find the glass sitting on your cabinet in the kitchen and you don't know whether it was poured or drank from--wash it and put it away!

I guess the fact I used the word full means that I am on the positive side.

I have thought about it since I read your post and I do subconsciously think a glass with 50% of the contents left! is 50% full. Positive thinking in action for you.

Thanks once again for the post.

It's half empty if I am thirsty, and half full if I am not. ^_^

I would say half full. Since it's my favorite drink I always want more than what I have.

For me this really is a depends question. If it is alcohol, I say it's half empty. I always want more, more, more and I don't want to run out. Once I get started, I don't want to stop. You know what I mean, Vern? However, if it is just about anything else, water, milk, soda, coffee, etc. I say it is half full.

Just the way I'm built! Bottom's up!

They say that an optimist has a glass half full.
A pessimist has one half empty.

I see myself as a pessimistic optimist. My glass is half full of poop.

If the glass originally was 100% full of liquid and 50% percent of it was removed (by drinking, spilling, pouring etc), then I would consider it half empty. However, if the glass is 50% percent full of liquid and nothing has been taken from it, I consider it half full.

Whether the glass is half empty or half full isn't the question. The real question is who's going to get the next bottle out of the wine cooler and top up the glass?
