I don't know about anyone else, but I personally do not like cabbage unless it is in cole slaw. I do like cole slaw but as far as cooked cabbage, I absolutely hate it. Maybe I am like a lot of people in the US and most people do not like cabbage so that's why it isn't as popular.

I am not sure. I love cabbage and my family does. It is such a great bargain in the store too so it totally helps when trying to stretch your food dollars. A good cabbage and corned beef is an excellent dinner and is very low calorie and nutritious.

I think it's not about cabbage specifically, but about vegetables. Many Americans, if they eat vegetables at all, only know the ones that come in the frozen or canned mixes -- carrots, for instance, or broccoli. Cabbage doesn't really show up there.
Personally, I love boiled cabbage; it's one of my favorite foods, especially with butter and corned beef. Of course this isn't the healthiest way to cook it, but oh well. Can't win 'em all.

Apparently there is some hope for the cabbage in the USA. According to this site, it is in the top 10 list of veggies grown here:

It is interesting, though, to think about why some food items are so popular in some countries but not in others. In America, it probably has a lot to do with all the fast food places and how convenient something is or is not.
I don't cook cabbage, but I do very much enjoy sauerkraut-- especially on Reuben sandwiches-- and I also like coleslaw. I love a good kraut burger, depending on who makes it, but I grew up eating that kind of thing so I have a taste for it.
Funny how the Cabbage Patch Kids toys were certainly a very big deal for a while.
