This is a brilliant idea, in my opinion. I have even heard of people having it at a hotel or somewhere with a pool and an entertainment area. Sometimes families each put in a certain amount of money that way one person isn't responsible for a huge tab.
Not only does it cut down on prep time, cooking and cleaning, you get to spend a lot more time with the family and actually relaxing and enjoying the holiday.

That will be a change of atmosphere, I think it will be nice and be welcomed by the visitors. First of all, I would have to be able to afford it because I think it will be quite expensive than doing it in your own house. Secondly, I will have to ask and confirm from the people coming if they are ok with it, what's their suggestions. Lastly, if everything will push through as planned and it will be at the restaurant, I should organise matters relating to time, theme, attires, and other things pertaining to the reservations so there will not be any disaster.
In my opinion, the work that entails in preparing a thanksgiving dinner is enormous, so it will be an advantage, for a change.

Until recently I would have said no, but I recently ate a locally owned country restaurant where the cooking was excellent, they even had a weekly meatloaf special on Tuesday Aunt Millie's home made meatloaf with masjed potatoes and gravy).
This particular restaurant eliminated the one remaining reason to never have thanksgiving at a restaurant, NO Leftovers! Thee are actually selling a bag of leftovers for $3.00 to take with you when you leave. Genius.

Absolutely not!
Many years ago, my parents went to Nebraska to visit my aunt and uncle for Thanksgiving. My brothers celebrated Thanksgiving with their in-laws. My 2 teens and I were left alone and I made reservations at a restaurant we normally enjoyed for Thanksgiving Day.
I spent the entire meal in tears. I had to leave the table for awhile to try to compose myself. Surrounded by strangers was not the Thanksgiving Dinner atmosphere I had enjoyed for over 30 years. The food was just "OK" - it was well-prepared but there really is a difference being able to taste the "love" in food prepared by family and friends.
The year prior to that was the last time my entire family was together for Thanksgiving Dinner. Since that time, with all the in-laws and outlaws, my family shuffles around and tries to find time to fit this "obligation" in. My children are grown and scattered and I much prefer spending the day watching movies than to ever consider dining out for Thanksgiving Day again.
