I am not in a party but vote more like a Republican than anything else. I follow conservative lines on some issues and liberal on (social) some others.
I like the fact that Obama is willing to let the military fire at terrorist targets in Pakistan.

I am an independent. Pretty much that means I vote on principle so the world thinks that most of the time, I throw my vote away. I appreciate that Obama has tried to get kids interested in the government (though he went about it the entirely wrong way and ended up looking like he was endoctrinating them). As for the Republicans, I'm glad that they are actually not caving out of defeat and still trying to get their points heard.
I don't exactly oppose Obama, but I do think he is immature politically and not ready for his office. They should have let him become more seasoned and had him learn a little, perhaps as a vice, before giving him such a position. He needs to learn humility. The republicans were becoming pretty beligerant. Their arrogance was what really cost them their power. I voted neither, but honestly if Hillary would have been running, I may have backed her.

My political ideology would be right of center to conservative, so according to your question, I suppose I would have to choose something which Obama has done that I like.
In this regard I would have to select his authorization for the Navy to take out the Somali pirates that were holding the cargo ship captain hostage on the life boat in the Indian Ocean.

Sadly I think lots of people vote party line without giving it much thought.
I am a centerist civil libertarian. I tend to vote democrat due to the abortion issue, which is one of my personal political hot buttons. I voted for Obama, so I will say something nice about McCain. I think John McCain is a man of integrity and I like the fact that he opposed waterboarding.
