I don't do things just to tweet about them -- that has uncomfortable overtones of the person who tweeted during childhood or something like that -- but I do cherry-pick status updates/tweets/etc. to be more interesting. If I was tracking everything about my life, I'd say things like "just bought a cup of tea, am drinking it, about halfway through" or "went to the restroom. had to take the far stall," but nobody wants to read stuff like that. It's ridiculous. If, on the other hand, I see the President on my way to work (which won't happen, but just as an example), you better believe I'm going to choose that to tweet about.
In a way, my social networking accounts are my public face, and I want to appear as interesting as possible so people get something out of following me. Whether this is (hopefully) amusing commentary, useful links, etc. It's a chance to make a good first impression.

I can't see myself pretending to do something to tweet, but I will write interesting things that happen so that people might enjoy seeing what happened. Facebook is where I get the most comments on my status but still it is all honest and I can't imagine beefing it up.
