I love both animals! :D But we're living in an apartment where animals are prohibited. But we tried to talk it over to the owners to allow the cats and they agreed. When we asked if a dog will be okay, we'll just have to put it in a cage or a leash, they didn't quite agree.

Okay, though I'm a pet lover, I think I'd understand why they allowed the cats more than the dogs.

1. Cats are cleaner than dogs. They clean themselves, while dogs can't that they end up stinking if the owners will not bathe them always.
2. Cats are pretty clean with their dirt. They usually dig small holes where they can pee or poop. While dogs just let their poop on the floor.
3. Cats are safer than the dogs when it comes to strangers or unknown visitors at home.
4. I believe that dogs are man's best friend. True. But cats are nice to their owners too. They are sweet and very playful too. ^^ Nice enough to keep you sane on those stressful days.
5. Cats don't usually destroy stuff like eat shoes, bite the throw pillows unlike what dogs do.

In other words, cats are easier to live with than a dog. Way back when I was young, it's okay that we have dogs around because I'm not really that busy so I have time for the dogs needs. But now, I have work, and all, cats are more easier to maintain.

I'd still love to have both. :)

I think preferences for cats or dogs depend on the personality of the human owner. If you want a pet who is eager to please you in all things, licks your face, doesn't hold grudges, plays well with other dogs, etc., then you will be happier with a dog. If you like a pet which is more independent, some might say aloof, then a cat would suit you better. These are gross generalizations, of course.

I have always loved cats. Watching a cat move is mesmerizing. Most of them keep themselves clean. If you want to keep your pet inside, a cat seems to work out better because of the litter box, their own tidiness, their size, etc. What I like most about cats is their personalities. I have "owned" four cats during my adulthood, and each one of them was completely different from the other. Cats are also unpredictable -- you think you have them figured out and then they do something unexpected. While dogs seem to enjoy the company of other dogs, cat relationships with other cats are more complex. Dogs are more transparent, while cats are manipulative and mysterious. I think being the owner of a cat is more challenging than owning a dog.

Neither anymore. I used to love dogs, now my dog is old and poops all over my backyard and porch without control and digs up my garden. I have 4 cats (because of the kids) and they poop in my garden. I'm realizing that pets and gardening don't mix too well. I love my garden so when my dog dies, I'm not getting another one. I'm also going to get rid of at least a couple of cats. I really do love animals, I was on a big piece of land it would be fine, but on this city lot it's too much trouble.

I've always been a cat person. Dogs are loud -- the sound of a dog barking is literally painful to hear. It's just so sudden, so loud, and with small dogs, so high-pitched. Dogs also tend to pee all over the place and slobber all over you, both of which are highly disgusting behaviors.

Cats, on the other hand, are clean and usually quiet. They don't slobber all over you, and their meows aren't loud. And they can be just as affectionate as dogs, in their own way. It means more when a cat likes you, as opposed to a dog who'll go running and barking at everything it sees. And in the years I've had my cat, she's never not used her litter box. I've never seen a dog that can say the same.
